Philippians 1:22-26 – Win/win!

Day 606:  As a Christ follower, may your Monday be different than it is for others, as the living God of the universe has big plans for your day!!!

Scripture:  But if Paul lived on in the flesh, that means fruitful service for Christ, and it is hard to know which is better.  He was torn between two desires:  to continue living or to be with Christ.  To be with Christ is far better for him, but it is better for the people at Philippi that Paul continue to live.  Paul was definitely convinced of this – he would continue with them so that they would grow and experience the joy of their faith!  So that their proud confidence in Paul would abound in Christ Jesus through his coming to see them again.  Philippians 1:22-26

Thoughts/questions:  As a high school counselor, I try to have students create win/win situations for themselves – can’t lose that way!  As Christ followers, our ENTIRE existence is a win/win.  What a blessing we have as a life of service is part of Almighty God’s plan for us, and when this life is over, heaven with Christ awaits!!!

Continuing on earth for Paul meant going on trips to Disneyland, seeing the grandkids, enjoying some good books, playing some golf (sounds like my retirement plans – kidding!).  No, he knew that by staying on earth, he would be serving the spiritual needs of those God had put in his life.  Since you’re reading this, you’re still living, so is your life making it better for the people in your life’s path or have other concerns taken over???

Uncertainty regarding today and fear about tomorrow is NOT our lot.  No, God has a MUCH better idea for us!  A win/win!!!

Suggested prayer:  Living God of the universe, thank You so much for my life filled with hope and purpose . . .

Memory verse for Philippians 1:  The One who began a good work in me will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.  Philippians 1:6b
