Day 813: Today is the second of back to back family Christmas’s with both sides of the family at our house. First one went well, let’s see about today!!! Today’s daily devotion is certainly in the spirit of Christmas!!!
Scripture: The Lord gives righteousness and justice to me when I am treated unfairly! Psalm 103:6
Thoughts/questions: When someone stated to me that Christmas was all about receiving, it struck a wrong chord. However, after considering their comment a bit longer, the truth of their statement hit me! God gave – for unto us is born this day in the city of David, a savior who is Christ the Lord! We, on the other hand, are to receive His various gifts! For us, Christmas is all about receiving!
And we have so much to receive because the Lord gives, and these daily devotions on Psalm 103 remind us of ALL the good things God has done and will do for us! In these verses, God promises that one of of his ‘good gifts’ is that justice will be served!!! It may not be today, it may not be tomorrow, but justice WILL be meted out – and that is definitely a good thing!
God’s character is one of giving. He desires to give even more to us. What is there in your life that you need to receive from God today? To be delivered from fear; to receive a healing; to conquer a sin pattern; to increasingly demonstrate a fruit of the Spirit; or ??? Seek His face daily regarding this gift! Daily request Him to give it to you! Make every effort to be willing to receive! And then be ready, because The Lord gives!!!
Suggested prayer: Loving Father, I really need to receive ____________ from You. Please gift me with Your presence and help me in this . . .
Memory verse on Psalm 103: May I never forget the good things God does for me! Psalm 103:2b
