Daily Readings – In Good Company!

Day 1786: The world’s map is in flames. Is the end in sight?

Scripture: But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever. I will praise You forever, because You have done it; and in the presence of Your saints I will wait on Your name, for it is good.  Psalm 52:8, 9

Thoughts/questions: If we spent just one day literally in the presence of God’s saints, our perspective on our lives would surely change. As they shared their stories with us and the challenges and difficulties they endured, our circumstances might pale in comparisons.

Jesus’ disciples who were martyrs; Paul; Stephen; leaders of the Reformation; present day persecuted Christians – need any more ‘saints?’ Yet, according to this Psalm of David, these are some of the saints who are watching us. Then the question is, ‘What do they think of our ability to wait patiently for the Lord’s timing or our ability to wait/trust while difficulties surround us?” How do we stack up?

We too are saints – let’s act like it!

Suggested prayer: Lord Almighty, help me to patiently wait . . .
