Daily Readings – The Sky is Bluer . . .

Day 1789: School days are beginning, so Saturdays have retained their status! Enjoy!

Scripture: Fearfulness and trembling have come upon me, and horror has overwhelmed me. So I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.”  Psalm 55:5, 6

Thoughts/questions: Again, David is being tormented by his enemies and his first response is to fly like a bird where he would be at peace.

Reality might be a bit different. A close friend of mine raises homing pigeons (very similar to doves). We released them to fly home in the blue sky, and then he told me about the HAWK that found a hunting place in the wires above his home. His ‘free as a bird’ pigeons didn’t always make it, as the hawk changed some of their lives forever.

The sky just may NOT be bluer, and David came to his senses by verse 16 stating, “As for me, I will call upon God, and the Lord shall save me.”

Feeling the need to fly away? Watch out for hawks; they destroy. But the Lord saves . . . Fly to Him!

Suggested prayer: Lord God, thank You for being my true place of rest . . .
