Daily Readings – Sticks and Stones?

Day 1798: Be blessed – from God to you, and from you to others!

Scripture: Hear my voice, O God, in my meditation; preserve my life from fear of the enemy. Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from the rebellion of the workers of iniquity, who sharpen their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows—bitter words. Psalm 64:1-3

Thoughts/questions: The expression, ‘Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me’ is only half true, as we all have experienced the hurtfulness of bitter words – arrows shot by the wicked.

We too need to pray for God to protect us from these arrows/words meant to hurt us! But most of us let words hurt us too easily. Since we cannot control the words of others, focus on our reaction to those words!

Are they true or false? If false; ignore them. If true; respond. But not emotionally or fearing their truth. Respond to them as merely objective feedback helping you take your next step! Be emotionally free from the words of others and be a servant of the words of God!

Suggested prayer: Dear Lord, may Your words be my most important words . . .
