Daily Readings – Football or ???

Day 1816: Just found out my son and his wife are going to have a baby boy!!! 3 grandsons, 1 granddaughter!!! Maybe the girl will be a bit spoiled, eh!

Scripture: Sing joyfully to God our strength; raise loud shouts to the God of Jacob! Take up a melody, sound the timbrel, the pleasant lyre with a harp. Blow the shofar at the new moon, at the full moon, on our solemn feast. For this is a law for Israel, an edict of the God of Jacob. Psalm 81:2-5

Thoughts/questions: Is this praise or a football game? Sing joyfully/take up a melody – fight song/alma mater; raise loud shouts – loud cheering; sound the timbrel/harp – the band; blow the shofar – a blast from a cannon or horns when a touchdown is scored. The religion of football dominates the Sundays in the U.S. as more people are watching the NFL than going to church!

But this list is for worshipping the Almighty God! Sing joyfully, raise loud shouts, sing, use musical instruments, blow the trumpets – for this is a law of God!!!

Suggested prayer: Lord God, let my worship of You far exceed anything else I ever do . . .
