Daily Readings – Are you?

Day 1821: The last day of 5 years of daily postings – not stopping yet!

Scripture: But You, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God; slow to anger; and abounding in mercy and truth.  Psalm 86:15

Thoughts/questions:  Compassionate and gracious – our God!!! Gracious is defined as being kind and polite, and compassionate is to have sympathy and sorrow regarding the pain of others.

Wouldn’t it be nice if all Christ followers could respond to everyone they encountered with kindness, politeness, and sympathy? Maybe we are too caught up with ourselves and how the actions of others are impacting us to consider them???

Can we look through God’s lens to view the behaviors/words of others, or has silver filled the back of that lens making what we were supposed to see through become a mirror of self focus?

Maybe God is slow to anger because of Him being compassionate and gracious. The next time you’re angry with anyone, check your spirit. Does it reflect kindness, politeness, and sympathy, or is it merely a reflection filled with you?

Suggested prayer: Dear Jesus, may You live through me as I die to myself and may the life I live reflect Your graciousness and compassion to all . . .

  1. Our father has taught me to work through my anger over the past few years; it took commitment, forgiveness, and His word. I have experienced His great peace and love that surpassed my understanding!
