Daily Readings – Faithful mercy!

Day 1825: May the strength of the Lord be your joy!

Scripture:  You have a mighty arm. Your hand is strong; your right hand is ever exalted. Justice and judgment are the foundation of your throne; mercy and faithfulness march before you. Psalm 89:14, 15

Thoughts/questions: God’s mercy – He does not give us what we rightfully deserve. Parents will often do this – their child deserves something because of their poor behavior, and the parents intervene so that the child avoids the consequences of their behavior.

Parental mercy usually has its limits and even the most enabling parents eventually draw a line in the parenting sand! However, the Psalmist reminds us that God’s mercy is combined with His faithfulness! He won’t all of a sudden get sick of our behavior and ‘let us have it.’

No sporadic mercy! God is faithful! In an unstable world seemingly on the verge of continual change, God’s mercy is surrounded by His faithfulness! A constant in a troubled time! Praise God!

Suggested prayer: Great is Your faithfulness Oh God!!!
