Daily Readings – The Antithesis!

Day 1840: Another Sunday to rest and be thankful!

Scripture: He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:10-12

Thoughts/questions: Antithesis – the direct opposite. God2me often refers to TGIF as Thank God I’m Forgiven, yet the continual use of forgiveness may lessen its importance, but what if we experienced its antithesis?

Not forgiven; being dealt with ‘according’ to our sin; getting what we deserve; no mercy; and an exact account of everything we’ve ever done wrong! Not a nice picture.

But we ARE forgiven! Our sins are gone! God does not hit the ‘save’ key regarding our confessed sin and they have been removed – as far as the east is from the west!!!

Sometimes we need to reflect on the antithesis of what we have in Christ, and ALWAYS we are to rejoice in what we have!

Suggested prayer: Almighty God, help me to never take Your forgiveness for granted . . .
