Daily Readings – Long Term Thinking!

Day 1870: Veterans’ Day. Take a moment to reflect. Thanx Dad!!!

Scripture: Those who sow in tears shall reap with joyful shouting. Those who go to and fro weeping, carrying their bag of seed, shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing their sheaves with them. Psalm 126:5, 6

Thoughts/questions: In the immediate, these words are used – sow, tears, weeping, carrying – not positive words nor ones which might bring a sense of accomplishment. Why would anyone want any part of that? Yet at times those words describe exactly how we feel. No fruit; sorrow upon sorrow; work, work, work. Time to give up? NO!!

In HIS time those words change to – joyful shouting, more shouts of joy, a bountiful harvest! Now some of this depends on just what we’re sowing, but the principle is the same – in the long term, it will be worth it all!

Similar to a pregnancy/delivery where there was a ‘sowing’, certainly tears and weeping, and months of carrying, the end result is well worth it!

Don’t be discouraged! Continue to sow the right stuff! In the long term, there will be shouts of joy!!!

Suggested prayer: Lord God, help me to persevere . . .
