Daily Readings – Put to Shame . . .

Day 1873: Fall – what a great season of change and beauty!

Scripture: May all who hate Zion be put to shame and turned backward. Let them be like grass upon the housetops, which withers before it grows up. Psalm 129:5, 6

Thoughts/questions: The Psalmist seeks retribution against those who hate the Jews. Interestingly, he specifically calls on her enemies to be put to shame.

Those who are committed to the elimination of Israel have a religion/society which has a shame/honor foundation. A Syrian scholar relates a story of an Arab husband who caught his wife in bed with a man. He pointed his gun at the man but said he would spare their lives if they promised never to speak of this to anyone. They promised, he divorced his wife without stating why, AND he avoided being shamed.

Therefore, for God to bring shame upon these enemies of Israel would bring humiliation as well as defeat. May God deal justly with those who hate Zion. And today, we can include Christians as well!

Suggested prayer: Lord, You asked me to pray for my enemies and I will, but I also pray for justice for Israel and my fellow suffering Christ followers . . .
