Daily Readings – Quite an Analogy!

Day 1876: Who owns Monday? If you, maybe you don’t like Mondays much. If God, then it’s just another day of blessings!

Scripture: Surely I have composed and quieted my soul; like a weaned child rests against his mother, my soul is like a weaned child within me. Psalm 131:2

Thoughts/questions: I’ve used quite a few analogies; however, I’ve never used a ‘weaned child’ one!

I currently have a nursing grand daughter, and have observed that while nursing, she is very demanding and her desires are her only priority! What my daughter, or anyone else nearby, has planned or is currently doing doesn’t matter to her in the least.

BUT. in the future when she’s weaned, she’ll be at peace at her mother’s breast. No demands as both will be at rest when her child snuggles close!

Do we ‘get close’ to God so we can demand to get our needs met like a nursing child, or is our soul quieted and we are at peace when we are intimate with our loving Father? May we wean ourselves from selfish desires and find peace in the arms of Jesus!

Suggested prayer: Loving Father, help me to rest in You . . .
