Daily Readings – Give YOU Thanks!

Day 1883: In the U.S., Thanksgiving Week starts today! Yet we are to be thankful every day!

Scripture: I will give You thanks with all my heart; I will sing praises to You before the gods. I will bow down toward Your holy temple and give thanks to Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; for You have magnified Your word according to all Your name. Psalm 138:1, 2

Thoughts/questions: God’s planning is great as these verses show up today! They remind us not only to be thankful, but also to acknowledge TO WHOM we are thankful to, not just what we are thankful for.

This is the question continually repeated during this season, “What are you thankful for?” More importantly, we should be addressing the question, “Whom are you thankful to and why?”

Maybe this would be a good Thanksgiving Day question. The focus then shifts from the things WE are thankful for to the One who is the giver! Not simply what He’s given, but also who He is!

Suggested prayer: Almighty God, thank You for being such a wonderful and awesome God and for Your marvelous gifts . . .
