Daily Readings – Power, Fear and Favor!

Day 1896: Sunday Funday!!! Restful fun! Spiritual fun!

Scripture: He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He does not take pleasure in the legs of a man. The Lord favors those who fear Him, those who wait for His lovingkindness. Psalm 147:10, 11

Thoughts/questions: Human power – very alluring. Physically, politically, socially, intellectually, militarily – any time someone demonstrates unordinary power in one of these areas, it is definitely impressive.

But not to God! Whether it be military might (strength of the horse) or individual power (legs of a man), God is not impressed. What impresses Him are those who fear Him and those who have the patience to wait for His timing.

A definite way to find favor with God is to fear Him – including awe, respect, reverence, honor, and some fear – and to wait! Wait for what? – His lovingkindness to reveal itself at the proper time as He gives us what we need, not simply what we want!

Don’t seek power, seek favor!!! Not man’s favor, but God’s! Find His favor through fear and faith!!!

Suggested prayer:  Father God, help me to always seek Your favor, and not be impressed by the power of men . . .
