Christmas – A Christmas Poem!

Day 1907: Next week – it’s Christmas!!!

Scripture:  For unto ME is born this day in the city of David, a savior, who is Christ the Lord!!!  Luke 2:11

Thoughts/questions:  At this busy time, I thought I’d share a poem I wrote in my teens, as a reminder of what Christmas is all about!

MY CHRISTMAS CARD

The worldly lore was beckoning strong, as we all went out and bucked the throng. That yearly rush has entrapped us all; the spirit of Christmas?  I can’t even recall.

Cards are a must, and presents galore.  Trees and lights, each year more and more. Xmas trees, Xmas sales, Xmas everything; the X crosses out what Christmas did bring.

Christmas brought more than a name used to swear. Yes, even more than the presents we share.      As history tells, Christmas brought Jesus Christ, but its meaning’s been stolen, the world’s biggest heist.

Instead of Merry Christmas, what we should say, is Happy Birthday Jesus! On His special day.     It is “Peace on earth, good will to men!” But is that truly what your Christmas has been?

When you open your gifts wrapped up so well, and off in the distance maybe hear a church bell;    Remember the Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, as you celebrate Christmas the way you chose.

Less than 10 days until Christmas!  The season will soon be past!  Let’s all commit that our celebration of Christmas doesn’t miss what it truly is all about – Jesus, THE Reason for the Season!!!  Merry Christmas!

Suggested Prayer:  Lord Jesus, let me never forget that You and You alone are The Reason for the Season . . .
