Words in Red – Take a stand!

Day 1939: Have a restful and blessed Sunday! I’m off to see some grandkids!

Scripture:  “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do harm, to save a life or to kill it?”  “Reach out your hand.”   Mark 3:4, 5

Context:  Jesus was in the synagogue on the Sabbath, His regular habit, and saw a man with a deformed hand. His enemies were watching Him carefully to condemn Him if He healed on the Sabbath. Jesus was deeply disturbed by them, became angry, and healed the man. Soon after, plans began to be made to kill Him.

Thoughts/questions:  Have you ever stood up for God and done or said what was right and had others walk away and end (kill) your relationship with them? Jesus knows that experience only too well, and He didn’t shy away from it.

First, Jesus shut them up with an impossible to respond to question Then Jesus healed the man, which only increased their frustration as they continued to choose NOT to believe. Instead of praising Jesus for healing this deformity, their response was to secretly plot to kill Him.

Throughout the world there are those who choose to become Christ followers and face killing their earthly relationships. But when/if the time comes for us to take a stand, we must be ready and willing – He will make us able!!!

Suggested Prayer: Jesus, You gave Your all for me. Help me to stand up for You . .
