Words in Red – Congratulations!

Day 1942: A parable!

Scripture:  “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you.  But those who are outside get everything in parables, so that (as Isaiah 6:9,10 states) they may see what I do, but they don’t perceive its meaning.  They hear my words, but they don’t understand, so they will not turn from their sins and be forgiven.”  And He continued, “Don’t you understand this parable?  How will you ever understand any parable?  The farmer sows the word, and some people are like the seed along the path where the word is sown.  Satan comes in at once to take away the word that was sown in them.  The rocky soil represents those who hear the word and receive it with joy.  But since they have no root, they last only a short time, and then when trouble or persecution comes, they quickly fall away.  Others are like the seed among thorns.  They are the ones who have heard the word, but the worries of the world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.  But others, like the seed sown on fertile soil, hear the word and accept it producing a crop of thirty, sixty, or a hundred times as much as had been planted.”  Mark 4:11-20

Context:  Jesus is responding to His disciples’ question regarding His recent parable.

Thoughts/questions: I believe if Jesus were sharing this parable now, He would stop at the seed among thorns – hard to find fertile soil now.  Daily, we have in our face worries, riches, and desires.  So the question is, how are we doing within the thorns as we can’t escape them?

Although we fight thorns, I believe most, if not all of you, are winning the war (might lose a battle or two) and bearing fruit within your families and the people in your path!!!  Congratulations!!!  You’ve heard the word and accepted it!!!!  God loves you VERY much!!!  He’s holding you in His arms!!!  Rest in Him!

Suggested Prayer:  Jesus, hold me tightly to Yourself . . .
