Words in Red – His touch!

Day 1499: Already in the 2nd half of February – wow!

Scripture:  “Who touched me!”  And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well!  Go in peace and be freed from your affliction.”  Mark 5:30c, 34

Context:   Jesus was walking with a crowd of people and a woman who had been sick for 12 years thought that if she could touch Him, she would get well, so she fought through the crowd and touched His robe.  She was healed.

Thoughts/questions:  Fragile, handle with care!!  Jesus’ words are life altering to be sure, and ALWAYS have to be understood with the knowledge that along with the overriding principles He taught are interactions of a personal and specific nature.  “Your faith has made you well” is one of those instances.

Two thoughts:  1) If this were a general principle, people of great faith would never die!  If my faith could heal me, I would never die of sickness.  2) Many accounts of individuals of great faith experience the exact opposite – (Paul was not made well), as God deals with each of us according to His knowledge of what is best for us at that time!  Be careful as to how you apply these words in your life and the lives of others!!!

I touch Jesus or He touches me – I want both, BUT His touch is FAR more important!  I trust we all experience His touch daily, but there are special times when it is overwhelming.  I remember His special touch when in college and trust you have had a similar experience!

Suggested prayer: Lord Jesus, please touch my life today and every day . . .
