Words in Red – Like a Child!

Day 1921:  Friday! Enuf said!

Context:  Jesus’ disciples were shooing away children who were being brought to Him.  Jesus became indignant with them and later took the children in His arms, blessed them, and laid His hands on them!

Scripture:  “Let the children come to me.  Don’t stop them!  For the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.  I tell you the truth, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”  Mark 10:14b, 15

Thoughts/questions:  ‘Jesus loves the little children; all the children of the world; red and yellow, black and white; they are precious in His sight . . .’  This little children’s song really hits the nail on the head when it comes to Jesus.

Two things:  1) Jesus became indignant with His disciples – angry at their unfairness and displeased by their actions!  He didn’t condemn or attack them, but He made His feelings perfectly clear.  Controlled anger and message delivered!  An example we all need to follow.

2) How can we be like children?  There is a lot at stake – the kingdom of God!  Jesus desires that we would retain our childhood innocence and not be overwhelmed with evil; that we would completely trust Him without doubting; that every day we have great expectations regarding the miracles that God is doing in and through us; and that we would always have hope based on a growing faith in the person of Jesus!

Be childlike again, run to Jesus, let Him take you in His arms, bless you, and lay His loving hands on you – you are precious in His sight!!!

Suggested Prayer:  Jesus, let me be like a child in Your presence . . .
