Words in Red – What a Question!

Day 1929:  Thank God I’m Forgiven!

Context:  Two of Jesus’ disciples, James and John, asked a favor from Jesus – that they could sit on His right and left hand in heaven.

Scripture:  And Jesus said to them, “What do you want Me to do for you?”  But Jesus said to them, “You don’t know what you are asking.  Are you able to drink the cup that I drink or to be baptized with the baptism which I am baptized?”  They said, “We are able.”  And Jesus said, “You will indeed drink from My cup and be baptized with My baptism, but I have no right to grant who will sit on My right or left.  These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared.”  Mark 10:36, 38-40

Thoughts/questions:  “What do you want Me to do for you?”  Jesus is asking a sincere question, but be careful how you answer it!  If Jesus loves you enough to die for you when you were separated from Him by sin, how much more would He want to do for you now!  Seek to serve Him and make sure your request is not self-serving, then tell Jesus what you would like Him to do!!!

Another side – ‘what does He want you to do for Him?’  Two things!  Just like you want your right hand to be always available and instantly obedient to your mind’s requests, Jesus wants you to always be available, and then be instantly obedient!  Each day wake up and report for service!!!  Be available; be obedient!!!

Suggested Prayer:  Lord Jesus, please help me always to be available and obedient to You . . .

  1. How faithful you are to continue to bless all who read this, with all God gives you to give to us…many are blessed and so am I ……..amote
