Words in Red – Endure!

Day 1947: May the Lord make His face to shine upon you!

Context:  Jesus continues His talk on end times.

Scripture:  “Brother will betray brother unto death, and fathers will betray their own children.  Children will rise up against their parents and have them put to death.  Everyone will hate you because of me, but those who endure to the end will be saved.  When you see the abomination of desolation standing where it should not be – let the reader understand – then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains.  Anyone who is outside of their house should not go in to get anything out of the house, and anyone in the field must not return even to get their coat.”   Mark 13:12-16

Thoughts/questions:  The phrase ‘blood is thicker than water’ indicates how much we value family when challenges come and decisions have to be made.  Jesus’ words indicate just how difficult these days will be as another ‘value’ will even trump devotion to family.

To endure to the end in your commitment to being a Christ follower you must have a strong foundation of faith.  Dig a deep foundation in these three areas that will enable you to endure if this time comes while you inhabit your earth suit!  1) Forgiveness – in Lamentations we are promised that His mercies are new EVERY morning!!!  No matter how badly you have behaved the day before, His forgiveness wipes the slate clean each and every day!  2) Freedom – Jesus has not burdened us with laws or required us to earn His favor.  No, His freedom allows you to become ALL that you were created to be.  Excluding sin, you can fully embrace who He has gifted you to be and where He has placed you; then develop yourself to your fullest potential!  3) Hope – His word is true; therefore, we always have hope.  Hope for the present and an even greater hope for your eternal destiny.  This hope will take you to the end.

Rejoice in these, seek to have them grow, and with God’s help, you will be ready for anything that comes your way!

Suggested Prayer:  Lord, thank You for forgiveness, freedom, and hope . . .
