Words in Red – He IS coming!!!

Day 1950:  Count your blessings!!!  Really – take some time and reflect on all that God has blessed you with!

Context:  Jesus continues regarding end times.

Scripture:  Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory!  And He will send forth His angels to gather the elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens!  Now learn a lesson from the fig tree:  when its buds become tender and its leaves begin to come out, you know without being told that summer is near.  Even so, when you see these things happening, you can be sure that His return is very near, right at the door.  Truly, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.  Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.”  Mark 13:26-31

Thoughts/questions:  We were created for eternity!  Our brief stint on a temporary earth individually encompassed by restrictive earth suits will soon come to an end.

I once talked to a friend who rejected God.  His comment was ‘if there is a God, He’s doing a pretty bad job’.  Although there are many potential reasons for him to make that statement, one major one would be a misplaced focus on the here and now.  God is not caught up in that.  He knows what we do not and tells us that our life on earth is like a vapor or flower which soon disappears.

God’s eternal focus was made obvious through Jesus.  Had Jesus’ life on earth been His primary concern, it would have been planned much differently – certainly not so much pain, agony, disrespect, persecution, personal attacks, or even simply the lack of a home to live in.  No, life on earth is NOT ‘it can’t get any better than this’.  When Jesus comes with great power and glory – WOW!  Whether we are alive and He comes to us, or we go to Him – either way, then we will KNOW why God prioritizes eternity!  It WILL get better than this, WAY better!!!

Suggested Prayer:  Lord, help me not to get entrapped by the cares of today, but to seek after that which will last for eternity . . .
