Words in Red – Do we even???

Day 1954: My prayer is today’s post changes your Wednesday, your week, and your life!!!

Context:  Jesus is responding to the disciples’ question, “Where do You want us to go to prepare for You to eat the Passover?”

Scripture:  So Jesus sent two of His disciples and said to them, “As you go into the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you.  Follow him.  At the house he enters, say to the owner, ‘The Teacher asks:  Where is the guest room where I may eat The Passover with my disciples?’  He will show you a large upper room that is furnished and ready.  Make preparations for us there.”  Mark 14:13-15

Thoughts/questions:  In the spiritual realm, I believe specific scenarios like the one mentioned above exist for each one of us.  We walk by faith, not like the disciples who heard the very words out of Jesus’ mouth.  However, if God knows the number of hairs on our head and promises that He has a plan for us, then it is reasonable to say that each of our days has this same type of plan for us!

So today, Jesus says to us, ‘My desire for you is to go here, see these people, say these things, and do these activities.’  We would have been shocked if the disciples had responded to Jesus’ words with – ‘that’s alright, we’ve got a better plan so we’re going to do what we think is best.’  No, they did as Jesus asked!

However, do we 1) even ask???  The disciples asked for directions.  Do we start each day and ask Jesus for the same guidance?  2) even listen???  Or do we tell God we’re available and then forget to be sensitive to Holy Spirit’s leading?  3) even obey???  Consider carefully Jesus’ request to the disciples – go and talk to a stranger about an unknown guest room only identifying the requestor as ‘the Teacher’!  Would we obey that?

Daily, ask sincerely; take the time to listen intently; then be sure to obey no matter how ‘unique’ Jesus’ request might be!!!

Suggested Prayer:  Lord Jesus, I am here, send me . . .
