Fruit of the Spirit – Our Fruit Tree!

Day 1963: The Fruit of the Spirit in our lives should be two things – Obvious to others and well known to ourselves. Sadly, most I ask can’t name all 9, but hopefully their lives demonstrate them!!! An apple tree knows what the fruit it produces, do you?

Scripture:  When I yield control of my life to God, His Spirit produces in me the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control; no laws are written to stop me from exhibiting these qualities.  Galatians 5:22, 23

Thoughts/questions:  These are not simply goals for Christians to seek after; these ARE attributes of the living God of the universe that by His Spirit are infused into those who give themselves over to Him completely!!!  A shorter version of this would be:  God in the bod!

Amazing!  God’s characteristics will become our characteristics!  We won’t become little gods, but we will replicate God and demonstrate to the world who He is.  All nine qualities transmitted into our personality!  This is a most miraculous process.

Primarily, we are to produce fruit similar to the way an apple tree produces its fruit.  It bears apples simply because its nature is that it is an apple tree!  We will bear spiritual fruit as our nature transforms to the nature of God.  Less of us, and more of Him!

As we go through all nine, I would like to challenge you to pick one of them, and focus on God’s Spirit displaying this ‘fruit’ in your life during these devotionals.  Which one will it be?  Pray that God will have this ‘fruit’ characterize your life now and maybe always!

Suggested prayer:  Father, I want to have all of Your qualities in my life.  At this time, please let ___________________ characterize my life . . .
