Daily Readings — Wise Person’s Hall of Fame!

Day 2029: Continuing a mini series on ‘words.’

Scripture:  If I profit from constructive criticism, I will be elected to the wise men’s hall of fame. But if I reject criticism, it only harms myself and hinders my best interests. Proverbs 15:31,32

Thoughts/questions: Criticism is never much fun, especially criticism designed to hurt. However, Proverbs tells us we are to welcome one type – Constructive Criticism!

2 things – 1) if constructive criticism isn’t coming our way, we should seek it out. Have the confidence these verses bring, and go to a select few of those you interact with and challenge them to give you some advice on how to do better – constructive criticism! Take it to heart and enter the Wise Person’s Hall of Fame! A great place to be!

2) if constructive criticism is actually a blessing, don’t fear speaking it to the WISE! (see yesterday’s post). They will join you in the hall of fame and thank you for it as well! Pick your words and person wisely, but don’t be afraid to speak to a person who will receive it and in a way that they will find your words acceptable!

If you reject giving or receiving constructive criticism, you now have been warned – it will harm you. That’s your word to the wise! Should be enuf!

Suggested prayer: Father God, help me to have the confidence to speak and to listen to words that make my life better. I am not perfect, and need to grow . . .
