Daily Readings — For My Soul Only!

Day 2034: Another Monday to have the same joy you had this weekend!!! Every day’s the same – to God anyway!

Scripture: That is why I should never give up. Though my body is dying, my spirit is being renewed every day.  II Corinthians 4:16

Thoughts/questions: There is a line in an old hymn, Fairest Lord Jesus, which goes like this -‘Thou, my soul’s glory, joy and crown.’ A life of glory, joy, and a crown sounds good, but this promise is for our ‘souls’ only!

Glory – our praise and honor. Joy – a keen pleasure or great satisfaction. Crown – signifies our role in life (i.e. king/queen) and our responsibilities.

Is our body being more glorified over the years; does it give us increasing joy; is it easier or harder to fulfill the role God has called us to? How about the mind? Getting better or worse as we age? For the verse of this song to be true, it definitely is ‘my souls glory, joy, and crown!

As Corinthians states, our body and mind are dying. BUT our spirits can be renewed daily bringing us our glory, our joy, and our crown! If we choose to focus on how the body and mind are doing, we will go from bad to worse! But when the status of our relationships and our spirits is our primary concern, we begin to see ourselves as God sees us!

Suggested prayer: Father God, may my attention move to the eternal! May I not lose heart and give up because of my dying mind and body . . .
