Daily Readings — Our Turn!

Day 2057: Making funeral plans today – death initiates reflection; maximize life; let tomorrow take care of itself; prepare for eternity . . .

Scripture: And Jesus said to them: How is it that you sought Me? Did you not know, that I must be about My Father’s business? Luke 2:49

Thoughts/questions: The last two posts have focused on God’s mercy and goodness, and I trust you’ll read them before this if you haven’t already. Now, it’s our turn!

God’s mercies are new every morning – if this is our Father’s business, it should also be ours as we seek to let Him live thru us! How are we doing not giving someone what they deserve? With those close to us? Or do they experience our verbal judgment or ‘controlled’ anger?

How about strangers? Does that driver deserve to be shown our displeasure or can we extend the mercy God extends to us? That impatient person who considered their needs above ours? Let them have it, or mercy?

God’s ‘goodness’ – Yes, we’re thankful for it, but our Father’s business is to be good, so how about us? Is that our rep? I’ll be at a funeral soon and wrote the memoriam for it summarizing the person’s life. Will others eulogize us using the words – ‘they were a GOOD person?’

Yes, God is merciful and full of goodness – now it truly is our turn!!!

Suggested prayer: Sovereign God, help me to daily demonstrate that Your Spirit dwells within me and has made me a new creation . . .
