Psalm 103 — Now That’s a Long Way!

Day 2152: Continuing with just who our amazing God is using Psalm 103! Today’s verse is in bold.

Scripture:  He will not always strive with us, nor will He keep His anger forever. He does not punish us for all our sins; He does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.  For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him Psalm 103:9-11

Thoughts/questions: So how high are the heavens above the earth? The known universe (which is growing regularly as we learn more about it) is said to have a radius of approximately 50 billion light years. A light year is app. 9.5 x 10 to the 15th power so take 50 billion times that and you get the miles – 425,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 give or take a mile! The heavens are definitely ‘high’ above the earth.

David uses that distance to represent the quantity of the unquantifiable – God’s steadfast love. And we know that the heavens are even higher as they never end! What love He has for us!!!

The next time you are feeling a little down and maybe unloved – LOOK UP!!! Not only are the heavens declaring God’s glory, they are also representing the full measure of His love!!! Yes, His love is so great!

Suggested prayer: Jesus, Your love for me is truly indescribable. Thank You Jesus for truly showing how much You love me on the cross . . .
