Daily Readings — Our Appetite!

Bad day yesterday, so redid this at 4 in the morning . . .

Day 2168: Remember, 1/7 of your life is lived on Mondays, so . . .

Scripture:  (From the Lord’s Prayer) “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”  Matthew 6:13

Thoughts/questions: Yesterday I heard  this thought and experienced this event. The thought: ‘There is and endless set of options/temptations for our appetite’ and the experience: Being part of a Mother’s sorrow as she traced the last steps of her 22 year old daughter who accidentally overdosed just before entering a rehab center.

Jesus knew temptation combined with our selfish appetites is a recipe for spiritual disaster. Today, temptation is seldom used, as maximizing self is considered praiseworthy.

Imagine our self as a package. On it God’s label would be ‘FRAGILE – handle with care’ The contents of said package will remain undamaged if handled well; however, if tossed about in a ‘whatever’ fashion, those fragile contents would be damaged and possibly destroyed.

We ARE fragile. Resist the endless set of temptation. Handle yourself with utmost care!

Suggested prayer: Sovereign God, help me for I am weak . . .
