Daily Readings — Compassion in Troubled Times!

Day 2173: Have a super Saturday!!!

Scripture:  (Jesus) Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:36-38

Thoughts/questions: Two things: 1) We’re not sure if Jesus were looking at His followers or those in opposition to Him, but regardless, He felt compassion. The local and world situation at that time was to say the least difficult, yet Jesus looked past that and was filled with compassion.

Are we? Do we see the people around us and throughout the world and respond to their actions/beliefs with compassion or ??? May we truly be followers of Jesus and respond in the same way He did!

2) Let’s also commit to be a worker in His harvest That is different for each of us, but a singular thread weaves through all of our lives – we are to be witnesses for God’s kingdom.

Suggested prayer: Dear Jesus, help me to faithfully follow You . . .
