Coach Wooden — Small Things!

Day 2183: Be faithful . . .

Scripture:  (Jesus speaking)  “The one who is faithful in very little things will also be faithful with much; and one who is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much!”  Luke 16:19   I am to work hard and cheerfully at everything I do, for I am doing it as unto the Lord and not unto men.  Colossians 3:23

Thoughts/questions:  Coach Wooden obviously knew the scriptures as many of his quotes, like this one, are paraphrases of God’s word – “If you do enough small things right, big things happen!”

Both Coach Wooden’s and Jesus’ words could be misunderstood if the focus is on the words much and ‘big’.  The real key is found in Jesus’ faithful in little things and Coach Wooden’s ‘do enough small things’!  Often you hear people say things like these – if I had more money, then I’d really give, or if I had more talent, then I’d do a lot more, or if I had more time, I could spend time on the things that really matter.  Jesus and Coach Wooden disagree!

Do the small things – make that call you’ve been putting off, don’t fudge on your income taxes, little lies are actually BIG, help where you can, pray (it may seem small, but it’s impact is huge), give of what you’re currently blessed with, follow through on everything you say no matter how small, and be faithful in everything!!!

We are to do everything as unto the Lord, so let’s recommit ALL of are actions to Him, without regards to whether those actions seem little or big.

Suggested prayer:  Lord, let ALL I do be done towards You . . .
