Daily Readings — In the Dark!

Day 2184: Continuing with the series regarding turning our fears into faith!

Scripture: Fear not, for I am with you; Do not be anxious about anything; Do not fear or be in dread of them; For God did not give us a spirit of fear; Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go; But perfect love casts out fear; Be strong; fear not; The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? Various scriptures

Thoughts/questions: Today the focus will be on fear resulting from incomplete knowledge! Darkness and light are a good analogy. Sometimes we find ourselves in complete darkness which does not allow us to know what’s around us. Sounds or a sudden movement can bring fear, that’s for sure. Then someone turns on a light and the complete knowledge of our surroundings alleviates our fear.

Faith according to Hebrews 11:1 gives us the assurance of things not seen, so faith is to be found in the darkness. Incomplete knowledge with assurance could be another definition of faith. We are not usually in physical darkness, but find ourselves in a darkness resulting from not knowing what’s happening.

Example situations would be – how is the surgery going; what are my kids doing; did I get the job . . . We don’t know the answer to a current situation, and it’s time to turn potential fear into faith!

God is the God of the unknown. His foreknowledge allows Him to already know our situation, and He promises us it will be OK! Rest in Him when you’re in the dark! Exercise your faith!

Suggested Prayer: Almighty God, when I am in the dark, may You be my light . . .
