Coach Wooden — Your Role!

Day 2186:  My 66th b’day and presenting a grand parenting seminar in Oregon! Gonna be a great day!

Scripture:  Yes, the body has many parts, and God has put each part just where He wants it.  There are many parts but only one body, and some of the parts that seem the least important are really the most necessary.  All the members are to care for each other equally.  Excerpts from I Corinthians 12:6-25

Thoughts/questions:  These verses use the analogy of Christ followers being like the parts of a human body, with each part having differing roles.  Each role differs and has limitations, but those limitations don’t impact their value.  After all, we can’t do everything!

However, sometimes what we can’t do seems to be more important to us than what we can.  We lament over what we are not able to do and lose sight of what we should be doing.  Coach Wooden stated, Don’t let what you can’t do interfere with what you can do!”  Maybe public speaking is not your gift, or possibly you can’t teach as well as others – BUT there are things you CAN do!!!  To God, it doesn’t matter if what you do makes the headlines or goes almost unnoticed.

As Coach Wooden advises, DO what you can do!  Encourage someone, help someone in need, give an old friend a call, love someone without expectations, extend a smile or give a hug – Yes, we can’t do it all, but our focus should be on how God works through us, not on our limitations!  Make sure you never ‘let what you can’t do interfere with what you can do!’

Suggested prayer:  Almighty God, thank You for using me.  Help me to always be available to You for whatever You need me to be . . .

  1. Happy birthday dad!!! Thank you for being not only an amazing father but a role model and mentor to me. Have a great day at the conference. Xo
