Daily Readings — A Pact with the Devil?

Day 2197: May God’s peace permeate your existence today . . .

Scripture: If I confess my sins, God is faithful and just to forgive me from all of my unrighteousness. I John 1:9

Thoughts/questions: Knowing we are going to be right with God after confessing our sins, we celebrate God’s great love; however, when we choose to do things we know to be wrong; when we have thoughts that are not in God’s will; and when we express deprecating self-talk contrary to what God says about us, we are actually agreeing with Satan.

Agreeing with Satan? We probably don’t want to agree with him at any time. Aren’t we just sinning against God and maybe hurting ourselves? Yes and no. Yes we are doing that, but we ARE doing more – those thoughts, actions, and words communicate that for that moment, we are in agreement with the devil!

Maybe agreeing with satan doesn’t sit with us as well as having the confidence of our future forgiveness, but that doesn’t change the fact of what we are doing. If this concept helps you stay farther from sin as it does me, keep it on the forefront of your mind!

Forgiveness – yes! Agreeing w/satan – NOOOOOOOO!!!

Suggested prayer: Lord God, help me to live in such a way that I never express agreement with Your enemy and mine . . .
