Biblical Phrases — Lord of lords (Pt. 2)

Day 2217: 2nd day with these verses!

Scripture: On His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.  Revelation 19:16  For at just the right time Christ will be revealed from heaven by the blessed and only almighty God, the King of all kings and Lord of all lordsI Timothy 6:15

Thoughts/questions: person who has authority, control, or power over others – definition of lord. Because Jesus is referred to as Lord of lords and King of kings, it presumes the existence of other lords and kings.

Certainly we have lords and kings in every culture and they have lines of authority over many of our behaviors via laws and cultural mandates. Those are a given, but what about the other aspects of our lives which we allow to assume lordship and reign as kings?

Could family be your lord? God is good all the time, except if seemingly bad things happen to one of your kids/grandkids??? Health? As long as I have my health I’ll be fine with God, but if not . . .  Time? Hey, there’s only so much time in a day and I’ve got people to see, places to go so my time is in my control?

These are only three examples, yet there are a myriad of lordship possibilities. If Jesus is Lord of lords, He is to be Lord of all, yep – all!

Suggested prayer: Father God, I have put some things in front of You. Help me to always give You Your rightful place as Lord of lords . . .
