I Peter 1:13-17 — Think Clearly!

Day 2223: May your Sunday be one or resting and reflecting . . .

Scripture: Therefore, I must think clearly and exercise self-control.  I am to fix my hope completely on the grace which will be given to me at the revelation of Jesus Christ.  As an obedient child of God, I should not slip back into my old ways of doing evil when I didn’t know any better.  But just as He who called me is holy, so I am to be holy in all that I do, because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”   Since I address as Father the One who impartially judges me according to my works, I am to live my life in reverent fear during my time here on earth.  I Peter 1:13-17

Thoughts/questions:  Every day should be a time of thinking clearly and exercising self-control.  However, during our busy lives, we often fail to stop, rest, and reflect on our lives – to reassess our purpose and assess what needs to be done. Rest and reflect – God will speak to us when we stop and listen for His voice.  He WILL tell us what He needs us to do!

Our ‘old’ ways of behaving must continue being ‘old’ ways. Most of us desire to fight temptation, but we snuggle right up to it and pray for strength. If you have to make only one choice between the temptation and the actual sin, you have a 50/50 chance of yielding to it and probably will.  BUT if you have 3 or 4 hoops that you have to go through before sinning, there is a great chance you WILL succeed in your goal.  Be smart – make it hard to yield to that temptation, not a 50/50 chance!

Suggested prayer:  Lord, help me to rest and reflect on my present behaviors and my future with You . . .
