I Peter 3:16-18 — The Just for the Unjust!

Day 2240: Would love to hear some comments!!!

Scripture: I should maintain a clear conscience, so that if people were to slander me, they who speak evil of me will be ashamed because of my good behavior in Christ.  For it is better, if it is God’s will, that I suffer for doing what is right rather than doing what is wrong.  For Christ died for my sins once for all times, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring me to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit.   I Peter 3:16-18

Thoughts/questions:  “That’s not fair!”  It is said that the only way that we can be treated fairly is if we are alone in the world.  Well, that’s not going to happen, so life will be unfair.  That seems to bother us, but is unfairness a concern of God’s?

Can it be God’s will that we suffer? Will our godly response of faith and hope be a testimony of God’s grace and a living example of our trust in Him so that others will be attracted to what we have?  If we use Jesus as an example (good idea), then the answer has to be YES.

It was God’s will that His Son, Jesus, suffer unjustly – talk about unfair!    The Perfect One suffering unjustly for me.  Yet, this completely ‘unfair’ act reconciled us to God and brought us eternal life, and we are now thankful for His sacrifice.  If we are to learn from His example, then when we are being treated unfairly, we are in GREAT company!!!

Let us continue our good behavior in Christ knowing that even if we’re treated unfairly, God has a plan for that too!!

Suggested prayer:  Lord, thank You for bringing purpose to my life when I’m treated unfairly . . .
