Proverbs — Proverbs 2:16-19

Day 2264:  Of all the selfish ways of living, fulfilling sexual pleasure might just be the biggest problem area our society faces.  Proverbs warns against going there!

Proverbs: Wisdom will keep me from being seduced by flattering words and engaging in an adulterous affair with someone who left their spouse and abandoned their covenant with God.  Their way of living leads to death and hell.  If I were to succumb to adultery, my life would never be the same; I would not be walking the path that leads to life!   Proverbs 2:16-19

Thoughts/questions: Sadly, far too many speak the words of Proverbs after succumbing to adultery – my life will never be the same! Few stay on the pathway of adultery for a long time, but those who have chosen to walk its path, even once, understand the truth of these words.

To stay away from sexual sin – far easier said than done. A disservice is done to today’s Christ followers when they are merely told to abstain without any further discussion. Proverbs says only wisdom can accomplish this task. Learning about God’s complete plan for our sexuality and being aware of the ruined lives of others brings truth to the ‘greener grass’ syndrome.

We know it in our head; do we have the wisdom to walk the path that leads to life?

Suggested prayer:  Lord, sexual temptations can be very strong, so I must apply wisdom to these temptations every time . . .
