Day 2325: Three Gkids spent the night last night – fun, but tiring!!!
Scripture: Honest scales and balances belong to the Lord, and all the weights of the bag are His concern. It is an abomination for a king to commit wicked acts, for his rule depends on justice. A king takes pleasure in honest lips; he values me when I speak the truth. The fury of a king is like messengers of death, so I would be wise to do what I can to appease it. When a king’s face brightens, it means life; his favor is like a cloud bringing spring rain. It is better for me to get wisdom than gold, and to choose understanding rather than silver. Proverbs 16:11-16
Thoughts/questions: God’s standard is honesty – honest intentions and honest behaviors. The weights refer to increasing the accuracy of the scales and demonstrate how specific God is when He sets the bar regarding our honesty. Can people count on you to be completely fair and honest in your business and personal dealings??? I trust they can because a lack of honesty and integrity is a definite liability on God’s balance sheet!
All of us are leaders, referred to as king in these verses, in some area of our lives; so we should lead in a ‘kingly’ fashion! Whether that be a job related situation or being a parent or grandparent, our kingly responsibilities are to be just; honest, speak the truth, and give favor. Does your leadership style include all of these? Proverbs says it should!!!
Suggested prayer: Lord, help me to be an honest, spiritual leader . . .
