Proverbs — Proverbs 19:25-29

Day 2341: It’s tax time in the U.S. – render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s – but, but, but . . .

Scripture:  By striking a scoffer there is only a chance they will become wise, but if I reprove someone of understanding, they will surely discern knowledge.  Anyone who assaults his father and drives his mother away is a shameful and disgraceful person. If I ever cease listening to discipline, I will stray away from the words of knowledge.  A foolish witness makes a mockery of justice, and the mouth of the wicked spreads iniquity.  Laws are made to punish scoffers, and physical blows are for the back of fools.  Proverbs 19:25-29

Thoughts/questions: ALWAYS consider whom you’re speaking to when trying to give advice or correction. Proverbs repeats this, so if we are to be considered wise, we must not confront a scoffer. However, if we need to address someone of understanding, they will receive it and our relationship will benefit. Think about who you are dealing with and then respond accordingly! (And make sure you can receive correction and not be a scoffer!!!)

If I ever cease listening to discipline – as we get older, we are disciplined less and may begin to believe we don’t need to be. However, Proverbs states that we will then stray away from the words of knowledge – God’s word! Where do we listen to discipline? Well, maybe from your spouse!!!

Seriously though, I find it is at church where God speaks to me and reminds me to stop straying away and get back on His path! Some believe they don’t need church, but ALL must have their ear open to words of discipline and then respond accordingly!

Suggested prayer:  Living God, help me not to be a scoffer and to always respond accordingly when You speak to me . . .
