Jesus’ Words — Trust in God’s Gift of Family!

Day 2344: Finishing the three day series on Trust and the temptation of Jesus. Provision, Protection, Procreation.

Scripture: Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give You,” he said, “if You will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’” Then the devil left Him, and angels came and attended Him. Matthew 4:8-11

Thoughts/questions: Maybe this is the VERY hardest area to trust God in. Our families! So how did I get family from this last temptation? Simple – Satan showed Jesus the creation which Jesus Himself had made. The deceiver offered Him what was rightfully His anyway.

What have we created which we might want to be responsible for and is, in a sense, rightfully ours? Our procreation – our kids/Gkids! When our families suffer, our response is similar to the ‘Momma Bear’ reaction. Trust and faith become much more challenging when our kids and Gkids are directly impacted by any form of unfair treatment, serious illness, or death.

So are we following what Jesus said regarding worshipping the Lord your God, and serve Him only, or in reality, have we begun to worship family and serve them? On the surface, it may not seem so, but family issues are a true test of our ability to trust God and have faith during that storm.

As Abraham did when asked to sacrifice Isaac, may we completely entrust our children and Gkids to the Lord and trust Him to love and take care of them in ways He knows to be best!

Suggested prayer: Father God, I give my family to You. Help me to consider them Yours and to trust You in all areas regarding them . . .
