Proverbs — Proverbs 21:6-11

Day 2352:  God’s richest blessings on you this Thank God I’m Forgiven Friday!!

Scripture:  If I lie to acquire wealth, my possessions will be a fleeting vapor and a deadly trap.  The violence of the wicked will drag them away because they refuse to do what is right.  Guilty people walk a crooked path, but by being innocent, my conduct is upright and my road is straight.  It is better to live in a corner of an attic, than in a lovely home with a contentious wife.  The soul of the wicked desires evil, and even their neighbors receive no mercy from them.  When a mocker is punished, simpletons gain wisdom, but as a wise person, I gain knowledge through instruction.     Proverbs 21:6-11

Thoughts/questions:  Do you consider yourself wise or hope you are headed in that direction? Proverbs gives you a standard by which you can measure that journey – do you gain knowledge through instruction. Everyone gains knowledge when taught, so the real question is this, ‘How do you respond to knowledge of your weaknesses or constructive criticism?

Do you become angry, frustrated, and feel slighted? Do you then attack the one who brought it to your attention? Or do you stop and consider the truth in what was said? As the result of your new knowledge, do you seek to change and better yourself? Check yourself and always seek to gain knowledge!

Why is it that the wrong way is always so enticing?  Just a little lie or two to make this financial venture work or telling the partial truth in order to make it through – Proverbs tells us we are guilty of not meeting God’s standard, and our life’s path will not be a smooth one.  Always seek to be innocent and upright!

Suggested prayer:  Lord, help me to live my life the right way – Your way . . .
