Proverbs — Proverbs 24:1-6

Day 2368:   May His word reach deeply into your life!

Scripture:  I am not to envy evil men nor desire to be in their company; for their hearts plot violence and their words are always stirring up trouble.  A house is built by wisdom, and by understanding it is established.  Through knowledge its rooms are filled with precious and pleasant riches.  When I am wise, I have great power, and my knowledge increases my strength.  I need wise guidance when waging war, as in the abundance of counselors there is victory.  Proverbs 24:1-6

Thoughts/questions:  Knowledge is power!  A more appropriate adage would be ‘knowledge is potential power.’  There is a huge difference between knowing and doing, and we need both!  Applied knowledge is wisdom, and daily we are to increase our knowledge of Him and put that into practice resulting in great power!

We then know right from wrong and do the right – great power!  We then see everything that happens from God’s perspective, which brings peace – great power!  We then understand God to be the true source of our strength – great power!  We then can positively influence the lives of others both now and for eternity – great power!  Our knowledge of who God is and what He wants for us is the foundation, now let’s all exercise that knowledge and demonstrate wisdom today and every day!

Envy (covet) – to yearn for what somebody else has.  Proverbs and the last of the Ten Commandments (not 10 suggestions!) are very clear – we are not to envy!  Take some time to reflect on anything you may be coveting right now and confess that to God and let Him take that desire from you!

Suggested prayer:  Lord, help me to exercise the great power that You have given me and help me to be content . . .
