Proverbs — Proverbs 26:7-12

Day 2380: Horizontally, our trust can be in vain; vertically however, God IS trustworthy!

Scripture:  Like a paralyzed person’s legs which hang limp, is a proverb in the mouth of a fool.  If I were to give honor to a fool, it would be like tying a stone to a slingshot.  A proverb in the mouth of a fool is also like a thorn bush in the hands of one who is drunk.  If I were to hire a fool or a bystander, it would be like an archer who shoots recklessly.  As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.  If I think I am wise, then there is more hope for a fool than for me.   Proverbs 26:7-12

Thoughts/questions:  God desires us to be wise, and the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.  He also desires that we not be foolish by misplacing our trust from Him to ourselves.  An oft-used motto of the USA is ‘In God we trust’ and many are seeking to eliminate these four words from any use, especially on our money.  We may keep the phrase, but many are replacing their trust in God with trust in humankind.  A foolish course of action!  Pray for the hearts of Americans and those of all nations to return to the God of their fathers!

As for Christ followers, our trust MUST be in the Lord.  We will never be able to figure everything out by ourselves, nor comprehend the fact that God can figure it ALL out; hence we must trust!  And He makes ALL of it work out for our best.  We once trusted ourselves, but then realized our need for a Savior and took the step of trusting Him for our salvation, not in ourselves.  Let’s not be as dogs and repeat our folly!  Take a moment to recommit yourself to fully trusting the Living God of the universe for EVERYTHING!!!

Suggested Prayer:  Lord, I humble myself before You.  There is no one who can compare to You . . .
