Proverbs — Proverbs 26:13-16

Day 2381: Let all of us in the U.S. be thankful for our vets today!

Scripture:  A lazy person stays inside and says, “There is a lion in the road!  A lion is roaming around outside.”  I am like a door turning on its hinges when I am lazy and turn over in bed.  Some people are so lazy they bury their hands in their food and don’t even bring it back to their mouths.  Lazy people consider themselves to be smarter than seven wise counselors.  Proverbs 26:13-16

Thoughts/questions:  God instituted physical rest and wants us to rest in Him; however, He is not too big on laziness.  This makes complete sense!  While working in education I heard this literally thousands of times – ‘a student or athlete is not achieving his/her potential.’  This is extremely frustrating for the parent, teacher, or coach.

God has that same issue with us.  He REALLY knows our true potential as He has created us and gifted us.  We can’t fool Him in this area.  Each day as you rest in Him and ultimately lie down to physically rest, make sure you reflect on the day – your attitude and activities – check to see if God considers it a day where you truly achieved your full potential in Him!!!  We expect our children to do their best.  Similarly, our heavenly Father expects the same of his children!

Suggested Prayer:  Lord, I want to do my best for You.  Help me to BE the person You want me to be, and to DO the things You want me to do . . .
