Proverbs — Proverbs 26:17-22

Day 2382:  There’s no business like God’s business!!!!

Scripture:  If I get involved in a quarrel that is none of my business, it is like yanking on a dog’s ears.  I am like a madman shooting a lethal weapon if I lie to my friend and then say, “I was only joking!”  Without wood, a fire goes out; without gossip, a quarrel quiets down.  By being contentious and quarrelsome, I will kindle strife, just like embers light charcoal and fire ignites wood.  The words of a gossip are like choice morsels, but they sink deep into one’s heart.   Proverbs 26:17-22

Thoughts/questions:?  We surely need to know what God considers our business to be as yanking on a dog’s ears does not produce good results.  That was Jesus’ concern as He responded to those questioning His actions with, “Do you not know that I must be about my Father’s business?”

Although hard to comprehend, God is uniquely concerned with each individual’s actions and reactions according to the purposes of His divine, loving will!  While still caring, we CANNOT get caught up in the lives of others or what they might think of us.  What God does in our individual lives is different and planned especially for us with our best in mind – we are to rest in that for our lives and for the things that happen in the lives of others!

If someone were to ask you what you were up to, would you be able to respond as Jesus did?  Our business is His business!!!  Let us seek to do that moment by moment in the big and in the small!!!  There is NO higher calling!

Always remember to be careful with words spoken! Replace gossip with silence!

Suggested Prayer:  Lord, thank You for what You are doing in my life.  Help me to stay focused on that and to never gossip . . .
