Proverbs — Proverbs 28:6-11

Day 2390: Seek first the kingdom of God . . .

Scripture:  It is better for me to be poor and walk in integrity than to be rich and crooked.  I am being discerning by following God’s law, but those who are companions of greedy people shame their parents.  If I were to increase my wealth by charging exorbitant interest rates, I will end up gathering it for those who are kind to the poor.  Those who turn a deaf ear to the law; even their prayers are detestable.  By being honest, I will inherit good things, but those who lead the upright into sin will fall into their own trap.  Some rich people may think they are wise in their own eyes, but the poor who have discernment see through them.  Proverbs 28:6-11

Thoughts/questions:  God is not opposed to being rich, but He has definite issues with being crooked, charging exorbitant interest rates, and selfishly being wise in one’s own eyes.  Those who own computers are considered to be rich, so these words apply to everyone reading this, and we need to consider them carefully.

Integrity – are you ALWAYS honest or do you sometimes turn what I call “Christian corners?”  You know what the straight path is, BUT the circumstances surrounding this ‘event’ make it unique – saving money, not hurting anyone, nobody will know – the excuses to turn those corners can be endless, but God demands our integrity – stay on God’s straight and narrow!!!!

Wise in one’s own eyes – this may be the most challenging of all as many of us have excellent common sense and sound decision making abilities.  However, often the poor know far more about complete faith and trust in their Father – true wisdom.  Be careful to make sure God has His rightful place in your life and be wise in His eyes!!!

Suggested Prayer:  Lord, help me to be rich in the things You consider important . . .
