Great Chapters in the Bible — Colossians 3

Day 2404:  Do all in the name of the Lord Jesus!!!

Scripture:  And in addition to these qualities, I should put on love; which is the perfect bond of unity.  And I also need to let the peace of Christ rule in my heart, as all Christ followers are called to do, and I am to be thankful!  Colossians 3:14,15

Thoughts/questions:  More putting on!  Now Colossians adds love to an already impressive list.  Be sure to pick at least one of them – compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, and love – and make that your focus for July!  Love can only be the perfect bond of unity when it is God’s unconditional agape love.  This love unifies and draws together as other circumstances in our relationships may be trying to separate.  This is a love worth putting on!  Put the rug of God’s love over the dust of ‘other stuff’ and let the world see Him in you!

Now there is a shift from the action of putting on to the more passive ‘to let’.   Letting go may take as much commitment as putting on, but this is something that should be a gentle, easy release as we rest in the arms of Jesus allowing His peace to rule in our heart.  Not just as an off again/on again thing, but for His peace to actually overwhelm our emotional state.  Let it happen by NOT ‘putting on’ worry or trying to control everything or stress!  When these appear, quietly whisper to Jesus that you ARE going to let His peace rule in your heart!  Let go, and let God!!!!!

The last few words seem to be an afterthought, BUT we always need to be reminded to be thankful.  Statistics say that a little over 50% of the world live on less than $2.50 a day – are you thankful now?  almost 4500 children die each day due to unsafe water – are you thankful Now??   over 1 billion people are hungry – are  you thankful NOw???  you can have His peace – are you thankful NOW????

Suggested prayer:   Lord, I need to let Your peace rule in my heart.  Help me . . .
