Proverbs — Proverbs 31:22-31

Day 2224:  Today completes the entire book of Proverbs.  I trust the wisdom in this book has changed your life!

Scripture:  She (the excellent wife) makes coverings for her bed; her clothing is fine linen and purple.  Her husband is respected at the city gate when he sits among the elders of the land.  She makes linen garments and sashes and sells them to the merchants.  She is clothed with strength and dignity; she laughs with no fear of the future.  She speaks with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.  She watches over the affairs of her household, and she does not eat the bread of idleness.  Her children rise up and bless her.  Her husband praises her saying, “There are many women who do wonderful things, but you surpass them all!”  Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.  Reward her for all she has done, and let her deeds praise her in the gates.   Proverbs 31:22-31

Thoughts/questions:  I am tired just typing about all this ‘excellent wife’ does!  Yet within all of her activities there is a sense of peace, not someone scurrying about with control issues!  People who are active and productive often demand control as well, but the uncontrollable future does not impact her, as she is a woman who fears the Lord – not with words, but in her attitude and with her deeds!

The book of Proverbs started with the premise that the ‘fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and now ends with an example of someone who has done just that!  Let us all seek to honor, respect, and fear the Lord as our number one priority. The world shouts for us to respond to its demands, but we know the One who has overcome the world, and we are to join Him and put worldly endeavors in their proper place!

Suggested Prayer:  Lord, thank You for this example of what our lives can be like when we truly trust, reverence, and respect You . . .
