One Another — Hospitable?

Day 2239:  Every day brings joy to some and sorrow to others! Seek to bring joy to all!

Scripture:  I am to be hospitable to one another without complaint!  I Peter 4:9  But if I walk in the light, as He is in the light, I am to have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses me from all sin.  I John 1:7

Thoughts/questions:  Being hospitable in today’s fast paced culture is increasingly difficult.  To ‘receive or treat guests or strangers warmly and generously’ might not comfortably fit our lifestyle.  With a calendar already filled, it is difficult to find time for our own concerns, much less having available time for ‘guests or strangers’, so we’re excused from this aspect of treating one another – or maybe not!

God wants us to open our hearts and homes not only to family and close friends, but also to guests and even strangers.  This is a challenging area – ask God to give you a spirit of hospitality!!!

When half of a verse talks about the foundational truth of Jesus’ blood cleansing us from our sin, it is logical to assume that the other half of the verse is equally important. Therefore, fellowship with others may also be foundational in our lives as Christ followers.  Others need to share in your joys and sorrows, and you need to be part of theirs.  You need to share with others what God is teaching you and revealing to you through His word, and you need to hear the same from them.  Fellowship is MANDATORY!  Seek out brothers and sisters to spend quality time with – plus it’s a good excuse to eat!!!

Suggested prayer:  Father God, help me to welcome both guest and stranger into my life as someone You have directly sent to me . . .
